About Pawculations

Pawculations is a collection of free pet calculators that show their working: real formulas, named sources, honest ranges. If a number appears on this site, you can see where it came from.

Why we built this

Ask the internet how much to feed a dog and you'll get a food bag, a forum thread, and a stranger's certainty, all disagreeing. The actual answers exist; veterinary organizations publish the formulas. They were just scattered across manuals and PDFs, or hidden inside calculators that hand you a number and no reasoning. We wanted the version that treats you like an adult: here's the estimate, here's the math, here's the source, and here's how much individual animals vary.

We come at this as pet people and product builders with over seven years of designing and handcrafting pet products, which taught us two things: animals are gloriously inconsistent, and owners deserve better than folklore.

What we promise

• Sources shown. Every tool cites primary veterinary sources; the full method behind every calculator lives on our methodology page.
• Estimates, honestly labeled. Ranges instead of false precision, and the caveats printed where you can see them.
• No fear marketing. No "is your dog DYING" headlines, ever. Emergencies get plain instructions and phone numbers instead.
• Not veterinary advice. We're not vets and we don't play them online. Our tools are for education and curiosity; your vet knows your actual pet.

Who's behind it

Pawculations is built by Gene Kamenez, who writes the code and checks every formula against published veterinary sources, with editorial support from a small team. Corrections and source suggestions are the most useful mail we get: send them here.
